Record Collector opened its doors in 1982. Now, as then, our inspiration is the music we love. We’re dedicated to serving our customers in the best manner possible. We hope you find something of interest on our links. If not today, maybe tomorrow, or next week, or even a year from now. Our stock is constantly changing, and we do our best to keep it that way. We do not list items for sale on this site, but you’ll note the various links to our online inventories (GEMM, MusicStack, eBay, Discogs, Amazon, and our blog). You may also of course enquire via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call us at (319) 337-5029 with special requests. Only a tiny percentage of our stock is online.
We offer a broad selection of vintage and contemporary music, emphasizing the non-mainstream, scarce, and otherwise hard-to-find items. This includes both new and used records and CDs. Our stock includes, but is not limited to: rock, blues, jazz, soul, funk, and hip-hop. The vintage focus is 60’s rock, pop, and garage/psychedelia; 70’s rock, funk/soul, blues, and post-40’s jazz. Contemporary stock includes all rock styles, underground hip-hop, and funk/soul/jazz reissues. Most of our stock is in VG+ condition or better – we clean every record that comes through the doors and we’re always careful to play any records that don’t look at least VG+. Check our rating on eBay to confirm this. Enjoy your shopping online, and be sure to visit the store when you’re in town!
